GAUTAM SARKAR, born on July 4, 1969, completed his education at Bhagalpur in Bihar. Started his early career in a local vernacular daily, went North East and worked some English dailies. Later he joined The Times of India (Patna edition) and also worked both in Jharkhand edition and at Bihar edition of The Telegraph. Known for his stories on human angle and contemporary socio-economic issues, he exposed sensational Deepa Murmu incident in Jamui in Bihar which rocked Bihar in 1997. ‘Red Army’s Hinterland Victims’, his book gives a vivid descriptions of plights and miseries of children and their mothers at eastern Bihar’s hinterlands under the strong holds of red ultras. ‘SARKAR BABU’ a non-fiction in Hindi illustrates about his adventurous journalistic career. He is also two time recipients of National Media Fellowship by National Foundation for India, New Delhi.
