Management of Nursery Education (Pre-School Child Development Centre)

Our vision is a world in which every child can grow up in happiness, in an environment where life is worth living, in a community based on solidarity, tolerance, respect for each other, openness, integrity, reliability, and joys.
In recent years, a number of pre school centers have come up in India not only in urban areas but also in rural ones under different names, following different patterns and adopting their convenient methods to implement their policies. This trend shows its significance for the society. Considerable numbers of these centers work against the spirit of early childhood education and care because no agency of the Government is there to regulate their working or exercise supervision and control over them.
Some of these centers are providing custodial care for babies when their parents are away for work. These are known as “Crèches” or “Day-Care-Centers”. These centers admit children at the age of 1 year or beyond till the age of 3-4 years. Some run these centers under the name of nursery or kindergarten and admit students of 3 years and beyond up to 6 years of age. Most of these centers employ untrained staff and make the children learn 3 Rs which is not only undesirable but untimely also due to the kids’ interests and tender age. Some state governments including Delhi have started monitoring such centers but a lot has still to be done. A few years back Delhi Government gave instructions to such centers that children below the age of 3.5 should not be admitted in pre school.
